Media Partners Asia‘s (MPA) analysis reveales that the Growth in the Indian direct-to-home (DTH) market has slowed further during the six months ending June 2012.

MPA is an analyst firm which has figured out that the industry added only 4.4 million gross subscribers during the period therefore taking the cumulative gross base to 48.8 million subscribers.

Such figures are being attributed to fewer subscribers than expected for the IPL cricket season, and the delay in the country’s digitization rollout, which was pushed back by four months.

For the period under review, the total industry active base stood at 29.8 million with Videocon d2h and Tata Sky as the major contributors to active subscriber additions. Dish TV still has the biggest share of active subscribers with 23%, followed by Tata Sky and Airtel with 19% each.

However on the positive note there has been the reduction in churn rates as active-to-net-subscriber ratios have improved.
