Media Partners Asia is hosting the inaugural Indonesia Broadcasting Summit in Jakarta on May 4, which it claims “comes at a prescient time. As the Indonesian economy has prospered in recent years and consumption has grown, the domestic broadcasting sector has soared.”
Media partners Asia says the Indonesian broadcasting sector generates less than US$1 billion per annum in net terms, less than 0.3 percent of Indonesia’s nominal GDP. The sector’s economic contribution could grow exponentially in the future as TV networks tap local and regional advertising; pay-TV distribution and competition accelerates; digitization gathers momentum along with broadband digital convergence; and multiple broadcast media content and distribution owners proliferate within Indonesia’s borders with the capability and capital to also grow overseas.
